Mimi Weyforth Dawson has enjoyed a remarkable career as a public policy strategist, a three-time Presidential appointee, a presidential campaign advisor, a congressional chief of staff, and as chair or member of several distinguished boards. Mimi is currently president of the Dawson Group, providing strategic consulting services to Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations.

Before joining the Dawson Group, she was head of the Public Policy Practice Group of Wiley, Rein, LLC. Throughout her career Mimi has dedicated herself to public service. In 1981 President Reagan appointed her to a seven-year term as Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission. Mimi became a critical player in shaping the newly competitive telecommunications industry. In 1987 President Reagan asked Mimi to serve his Administration as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Transportation. Confirmed by the Senate, one again unanimously in this important role, she oversaw 100,000 employees, a $26.5 billion annual budget, and federal policy and regulation regarding air, sea, highway and rail. In 1990, the Secretary of Transportation asked her to Chair the Airport Capacity Funding Advisory Committee. In 1992 President Bush signed a commission appointing Mimi to a five-year term as a Member of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. She served as a Member of the Holocaust Council's Executive Committee that planned, opened and operated the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC.

Mimi spent 13 years on Capitol Hill in leadership positions, including becoming one of the first five female Chiefs of Staff to a U.S. Senator. When she first moved to D.C. in 1969, she was Legislative Assistant to various Members of Congress from her home state of Missouri. Mimi was a senior campaign advisor for President George Herbert Walker Bush's Re-election bid in 1992. Additionally, she has managed several local, state and national political campaigns.

A respected figure in the Washington community, Mimi has served on numerous councils and boards. She served as Chairman of the Board of the American Council of Young Political Leaders and on the Board of Directors for the Atlantic Treaty Organization. Mimi was the Secretary General of the Atlantic Association of Young Political Leaders. She was selected to be an Adjunct Fellow in regulatory policy at the highly respected Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington. She is also a former board of trustees member of the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Corcoran School of Art, and the Washington Center. Currently, Mimi is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Lab School of Washington, a global leader in its field, developing trail-blazing ways in teaching children with learning differences, through small classroom settings and multi-sensory, arts infused learning. Mrs. Dawson received her B.A. in Government from Washington University in St. Louis. She is married to Rhett B. Dawson and they have two children, artist Elizabeth Dawson Ward, who is married to Richard Anthony Ward, and digital strategist Andrew Brewer Dawson, who is married to Alexandra Nicole Dawson. Their grandson is named Poe Wilder Dawson.

She has been highlighted in many editions of Who's Who over the years, including several editions of Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and every edition of Who's Who in America from 1987 to 2011.
