Prior to joining Berns, Ockner & Greenberger, LLC, in 2002, he was principal of Kahn, Kleinman, Yanowitz & Arnson Company, LPA, in Cleveland, OH, for 42 years.
Mr. Berns received his BBA Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University in 1958, and his JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1960 where he was a member of Order of the Coif. Admitted to practice by the Ohio Bar Association, the Supreme Court of the United States, the Second and Sixth Circuits of the U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Claims Court, he is a lifetime member of the Eighth Judicial Conference of Ohio and a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association, and the Greater Cleveland Bar Association, where he participates on the litigation, construction, and urban, state, and local government law sections.
Locally, Mr. Berns has served as councilman for the City of Beachwood from 1970 to 1977. He was a member of the Cuyahoga County Rep. Executive Committee from 1968 to 2016, and served as vice chairman for eight years.
