Throughout his career, Dr. Kil has contributed to the service of his country and the field of ocean remote sensing through his research, publications, and presentations.

Dr. Kil began his career as a student of the Republic of Korea Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor's degree of Engineering in 2002. Dr. Kil continued his studies at Seoul National University, receiving a Master's degree in Science of Physical Oceanography in 2006. Following his graduation from Seoul National University, Dr. Kil returned to his alma mater and worked as an instructor of oceanography at the Republic of Korea Naval Academy. He worked for that organization until 2009, when he began serving as a commanding officer of PKM in the first fleet in the Republic of Korea Navy.
In 2010, Dr. Kil was an oceanographic environmental analyst for the Maritime Tactical Intelligence Group of the Republic of Korea Navy. Dr. Kil traveled to the United States and studied at the University of Southern Mississippi. In 2015, he graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Physical Oceanography before returning to the Republic of Korea Navy. Since 2016, he has worked as an oceanographic environment team leader of the Navy Intelligence Group in the COMROKFLT. He recently worked as an oceanography officer in the Republic of Korea Navy Headquarters.
Dr. Kil was certified as a third class deck officer by the Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Port Office in 2008. In 2009, the Human Resources Development Service of Korea registered him as a national technical qualification certificate-industrial engineer of ocean survey. In 2017, KHRA (Korea Hydrography and Research Association) certified Dr. KIl as a hydrographic surveyor.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kil has contributed to the service of his country and the field of ocean remote sensing through his research, publications, and presentations. Over the past three years, he has published five research papers and made four presentations to several esteemed scientific organizations, such as NASA and NOAA. Dr. Kil's current IEEE publication_Sea surface salinity changes around the Jeju Island after Typhoon Chaba_ is getting attention because he focused implementation of a satellite radiometer on discovering sea surface salinity variations by Typhoon for the first time.
Dr. Kil's achievements have been acknowledged by these communities. In 2006, the Republic of Korea Navy honored with him the Award of ROK Chief of Naval Operations. Dr. Kil was the recipient of the Travel Award from the European Space Agency for attending _The first microwave ocean remote sensing training school_ in 2013. Most recently, the Republic of Korea Navy granted Dr. Kil the Award of ROK Defense Intelligence Agency in 2016. Additionally, he is an international member of Satellite & In Situ Salinity working group by NASA and ESA.
