With more than 40 years of industry experience, Mr. Walter currently works as president and owner of Mission Valley Roofing, Inc., positions he has held since 1989 and 1977, respectively. Additionally, he has served as a roofer for multiple projects and organizations in 2011, 2012, and 2016. He previously worked as a Floor Guard at the Skyline Roller Rink.
Mr. Walter began his career by pursuing an education at Santa High School, graduating with a Diploma in 1975. He went on to study at Mesa Community College, completing coursework from 1988 to 1992. Additionally, he received a certification as a Shamrock Applicator from Malarkey Roofing Products, authorization as a Carlisle Applicator from Carlisle Syntec in 2005, recognition as an honorary issuer from Malarkey Roofing Products in 2012, and authorization as an applicator from Weatherbond in 2014.
Mr. Walter is affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He is a member of the Western States Roofing Contractors Association, the National Roofing Contractors Association, the American Building Contractors Association, the San Diego Roofing Contractors Association, and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry of San Diego, for which he was elected as president. He was established as the president of the National Association of The Remodeling Industry from 1999 to 2001, the San Diego Roofing Contractors Association from 2000 to 2001, and the Roofing Contractors Association of California in 2004. He held additional roles with the Roofing Contractors Association of California, including vice president and board member in 1990.
In recognition of his contributions, Mr. Walter has accrued numerous honors throughout his career. In 1995, he earned a Golden Circle Award from the National Roofing Contractors Association, and was named Contractor of the Year by the Roofing Contractors Association of California in 1998. He was presented with a Gold Card and lifetime membership with the American Building Contractors Association in 1999, after which he garnered the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the Better Business Bureau in 2000, and he received the Gold Medal Quality Award from Versico Roofing Systems in 2011. From 1990 to 2005, he was vice chair of the Community Christmas Center Committee, and he has been a business representative for the Santee Redevelopment Project Area Committee.
Attributing his success to his "never give up" attitude, Mr. Walter was inspired by his stepfather, a roofer who began teaching him the trade at age 11. Mr. Walter started his own business at age 19, and his business has remained in his family for more than 40 years. Looking towards the future, Mr. Walter hopes to continue making his impact on his field while desiring to see more of the United States of America.
