GURABO, PR, January 11, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Jeffrey Duffany has been included in Marquis Who's Who. With 40 years of industry experience, Dr. Duffany has been a professor of electrical and computer engineering with the University of Turabo since 2003. As the first engineering professor at the institutions, he was instrumental in developing the School of Engineering, as well as the computer engineering program and network security graduate program. Prior to obtaining this role, he was a senior consultant with the KOHL Group, Inc., from 1996 to 2002, an adjunct professor with the County College of Morris from 1997 to 2000, and a technical staff member with Bell Telephone Laboratories from 1977 to 2002.
In addition to his primary professional roles, Dr. Duffany has been involved with a number of related organizations, recently holding a summer faculty research fellowship at the Air Force Research Laboratory. He also served as a faculty researcher at multiple institutions, including the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 2012 to 2014, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command from 2008 to 2010, and the University of Southern California in 2006. Additionally, he was a research scientist at the Information Sciences Institute in 2006 and the Sandia National Laboratories in 2004, and he served as a COBRA System engineer at Lucent Espana in Madrid from 2000 to 2001.
Dr. Duffany began his career at the University of Connecticut, graduating with a BS in electrical engineering, summa cum laude, in 1977, going on to complete an MS in electrical engineering with Columbia University in 1979. He later earned a PhD in computer and information engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in 1996, and an Associate'a Degree in photography and Spanish from the County College of Morris in 1998. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and a former member of the IEEE.
Widely regarded as the top cybersecurity expert in Puerto Rico, Dr. Duffany has authored more than 100 technical reports, and more than 25 research papers, books, and book chapters. The Springer Publishing Company asked him to write the introductory chapter to a new book on computer and network security, published in 2017. He has been invited to present at cyber security conferences around the world, and he holds multiple patents in his field. Additionally, the Government of Puerto Rico honored Dr. Duffany with a grant to help support his outstanding research in the industry.
