Recognized internationally for his excellence in bio-robotics, Dr. Rahman has been an assistant professor with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Department of Mechanical Engineering since 2015, also serving on the faculty for biomedical engineering. He served as a research assistant for Robotic Design in 2014 and 2015. Prior to that, he was with the Ecole de Technologie Superieure and McGill University in Montreal, Canada as a research assistant and for a postdoctoral fellowship from 2012 to 2015. He also served as an assistant professor at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh from 2001 to 2012. Dr. Rahman began his career at the Khulna University of Engineering & Technology in Bangladesh, obtaining a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 2001. He then traveled to Saga, Japan to earn an ME in Mechanical Engineering (bio-robotics) in 2005, before going on to Montreal, Canada to earn a PhD in Engineering (rehabilitation robotics) from the Ecole de Technologie Superieure in 2012. He is a member of the IEEE, ASME, BMES, RESNA, the Professional Engineers of Ontario, the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh: IEB, and a former member of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his contributions in the field of rehabilitation robotics.While studying, he received postdoctoral research scholarships-B3 from Fonds de Recherche du Quebec Nature et Technologies from 2012 to 2014, doctoral research scholarships-V1 from the Ministere de l'Education, du Loisirs et du Sport du Quebec in 2008 to 2009, a monbukagakusho scholarship from the Japanese government from 2003 to 2005, and multiple merit award scholarships from the Dhaka District Council from 1997 to 2000. Noted that, he was awarded First Place in the Group of Measurements and Systems, a Postdoctoral Fellowship Competition sponsored by Fonds de Recherche du Quebec Nature et Technologies (FRQNT) in 2012. He also won the First Place in the Competition of PhD Scholarship sponsored by Ministere de l'Education, du Loisirs et du Sport du Quebec in 2008 and the IEB recognized him in 2001.
