Founder, president, CEO, and chairman of EarthTech International and director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin, Dr. Puthoff is a physicist and educator with an extensive amount of knowledge in his field. As head of the Institute, which was incorporated under EarthTech International, Inc. in 1991, as an innovative research facility with a high-powered creative staff, the organization is dedicated to exploring the forefront reaches of science and engineering. Their research interests include theories of spacetime, gravity and cosmology, studies of the quantum vacuum, modifications of standard theories of electrodynamics, interstellar flight science, and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, specifically as these topics may apply to developing innovative space propulsion and sources of energy, while also striving to translate these ideas into laboratory experiments.
Dr. Puthoff is among a small team that runs EarthTech whose present research activities range from theoretical studies concerning fundamental electrodynamics, gravitation, and the quantum vacuum to laboratory studies of innovative approaches to energy generation and space propulsion. He has authored articles in various physics journals on such topics as electron-beam devices, lasers, quantum vacuum energy physics, general relativity models, and space propulsion. He is also the co-author of a graduate-level textbook called "Fundamentals of Quantum Electronics" with R. Pantell in 1969, which was published in English, French, Russian, and Chinese, and holds several patents in the laser, communications and energy fields.
Originally earning a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Master of Engineering at the University of Florida and working as an engineer in the late 1950s, first with General Electric in Schenectady, NY, and then with Sperry Electronic Tub Div., Dr. Puthoff then served three years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve at the National Security Agency, from 1961 to 1963. Returning to civilian work, he began as a research associate and lecturer in the microwave laboratory at Stanford University from 1963 to 1971, during which time he completed his PhD at the university in 1967, as a theoretical and experimental physicist specializing in lasers. He then spent another 14 years as a senior research physicist at SRI International in Menlo Park, CA.
A participant with several different organizations and as an advisor for numerous technology and future technology trends, Dr. Puthoff often collaborates with his wife Adrienne, who serves on the National Board of the National Alliance of Mental Illness. He has been involved as a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers and several other relative organizations, was named a British Interplanetary Society Fellow in 2012, was named a Fetzer Fellow in 1991, and earned numerous other honors throughout the years, including a U.S. Department of Defense Certificate of Commendation from the National Security Agency for his work on high-speed, opto-electronic computers. Married since 1974, with five children and 10 grandchildren, Dr. Puthoff enjoys his time doing family activities. For more information, please visit www.earthtech.org.
