A former software development company executive and president of DataPlus, Inc., in Washington, D.C., Ms. Ballard spent many years in the corporate environment. Prior to overseeing DataPlus, she was the vice president of FINPAC Corporation, a nationwide provider of equipment financing for business owners, and a mathematician for UNIVAC, as part of Sperry Corporation, which specialized in computer development. Her extensive education, which includes a Bachelor's degree from Smith College, a Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA at American University, all contributed to her success during her many years in business.
Ms. Ballard also spent time in academia, lecturing at Temple University in Philadelphia. Her well-rounded background in both the corporate world and education later led to numerous roles outside of work. She served as secretary of the board for Sidwell Friends School, board chairman for Washington Area Women's Foundation, chairman of the board for Sandy Spring Friends School, and was on the board of directors for Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, Levine Music, and Friends Committee on National Legislation.
In 2000, Ms. Ballard took over the publishing of her family's "Quaker Motto Calendar," which was founded by her great-grandfather in 1884. In addition to overseeing publication, she is responsible for deciding on 60 inspirational quotations per year for each annual calendar. Since 2016, Ms. Ballard is a Zone Chairman of the Garden Club of America, on the board of Sandy Spring Friends School, and Nurturing Minds, an organization that raises funds for a secondary girls' boarding school in Tanzania, Africa. She is also a Democratic Precinct chair.
Ms. Ballard was married to Frederic L. Ballard Jr. for 39 years, and is the mother of two sons and one step-daughter. She has been honored with recognition in dozens of editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who of American Women, and several others since 1995.
