First receiving a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, at The George Washington University in 1989, Mr. Cafferata subsequently earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Southern California in 1992, Order of the Coif.He is admitted to practice law in both California and Nevada.
Alongside his professional endeavors, Mr. Cafferata is affiliated with several organizations within his fields of expertise. He has been an instructor of the Certified Specialist in Planned Giving program at California State University at Long Beach, an adjunct professor of Law, Gifts, Wills, and Trusts at the University of Southern California School of Law, and was a board member of the National Committee on Planned Giving from 2000 to 2002.
In addition, Mr. Cafferata is heavily involved in his community. He is currently a board member of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, a Chancellor of St. Mark's Church, Altadena, and a member of the St. Mark's School Board of Trustees. Mr. Cafferata is a former member of the board of advisors for the American Jewish University Non-Profit MBA Program, and a past president of both the Church Charitable Foundation of the Episcopal Dioceses of Los Angeles and the Altadena Historical Society.

As a result of his professional accomplishments, Mr. Cafferata has been honored with numerous prestigious accolades, including Attorney of the Year for Extraordinary Achievement in 2015 Appellate Practice by the Daily Journal 2016 Clay Awards. In addition, he has been named a Super Lawyer in Los Angeles from 2005 to 2010, as well as Los Angeles Best Lawyers Trusts and Estates Lawyer of the Year in 2011. Additionally, Mr. Cafferata has been honored with an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
