At the start of his career, he was an assistant professor and lecturer with Tsinghua University before going back to graduate school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Subsequently, he served with L3 Technologies as a principal engineer.
A graduate of Tsinghua University, Dr. Chen holds a Bachelor of Engineering in engineering physics, and a Master of Science and a PhD in nuclear engineering from MIT. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the development of innovative methods and cutting-edge products in ionizing radiation measurement, radiation imaging, and RF powered accelerators. Dr. Chen has also developed the concept of neutron resonance radiography, energy sensitive imaging detectors, and interlaced energy RF Linac, which has been the industry standard since its creation.
