A senior researcher in the department of PRI Inspection and Control Systems at LG Production Engineering Research Institute, Dr. Kang is a highly respected engineer who holds a doctorate degree in his respective field. Contributing much of his success thus far to his development of a high sensitivity heterodyne laser interferometer for the vibration measurement of a structure with a weak reflective surface, which was the basis for his Ph.D. dissertation, Dr. Kang continues to conduct research and develop patents in his area of expertise, including a OLED light glass inspection machine, which he developed and served as project lead just last year in 2017.
Dr. Kang has also served as project leader of national research and development, which was hosted by the NRF, in 2009. The project was titled "Development of a 3-Dimensional Laser Vibration Measuring Instrument Using Three Laser Beams Scanning" and earned him and an Excellence Achievement Top 100. Two years prior, in 2007, Dr. Kang served as a project member as the representative of research and development, which was hosted by MEST. Titled "Study on Development of an Atomic Force Microscope Using a Magnetically Levitated Stage for Wide Range Measurement," he earned an Excellence Achievement Top 50.
Throughout his career in engineering, Dr. Kang has authored numerous academic papers in various Korean publications, some of which have been presented at international conferences. The recipient of a Young Author Award from ICCAS-SICE in 2009, he also received a Scholarship Award from DASAN. Dr. Kang is a former member of The Korean Society for Noise and Vibration Engineering, the Korean Society for Precision Engineering and the Korea Productivity Association. A former technical research personnel for the Korean Army between 2006 and 2011, Dr. Kang continues to serve in the reserves. Born in Korea, he is one of five siblings. One of his favorite hobbies is snowboarding.
