With 35 years of experience in the industry, Dr. Park has worked as a professor with Joongbu University since 1999. Prior to obtaining his current role, he worked with Masan College as a professor. Earlier in his career, he served as a member of the senior research staff at the ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute).
While working at ETRI in the 1980s, Dr. Park designed and constructed a LAN (Local Area Network) system for the first time in Korea to provide LAN service. Dr. Park has implemented many national projects and has been influencing the development of Internet technology in Korea through design of MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) using optical fiber and the construction of a demonstration network. In early 1990, he also participated in the development of Korea's satellite communication protocol technology and provided the foundation for VSAT (Very-Small-Apature Terminal) system service.
In the 2000s, Dr. Park established a venture start-up with Internet Cluster System technology for field practical sense. Dr. Park has been working and carried out many research papers and projects as a university professor in the field of computer and information communication, and has been working on an embedded system, parallel computing and high-speed network. Nowadays, Professor Park has been studying IoT (Internet of Things), Big Data, Smart Control Systems, and making efforts to spread new technologies to his students. Dr. Park has a Certificate as a Korean Language Teacher, so he is preparing for the opportunity to teach the Korean language to foreigners all over the world.
Dr. Park began his career as a student at Kyungbok National University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, going on to complete a Master of Science in computer science and electrical engineering from the POSTECH (Pohang Institute of Science and Technology). He then studied at Gyeongsang National University, earning a PhD in computer science.
An expert in the field, Dr. Park is affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the Institute of Electronics and information Engineers, the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers, the Korean Information Processing Society, and the Korean Society for Internet Information. In addition, he has contributed to many international journal publications in the field of parallel computing and multi-core processing.
As a respected voice in the industry, Dr. Park has been recognized throughout his career for his achievements, including having received the Excellent Researcher of the Year Award from the Minister of Science and ICT. Looking toward the future, Dr. Park intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
