WAHPETON, ND, February 07, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Peggy Yvonne Donahe has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Born in Bismarck, ND, to Fred Rattei and Austie Mahre Porter, Ms. Donahe studied elementary education with the University of North Dakota, and taught fifth grade with the Ashley School District until 1967. Ms. Donahe became involved in her profession as an educator due to her mother, who would read stories to her and her siblings every night. Her love of the English language led her to teach the subject as an elementary school educator. She went on to teach fourth grade in the Hecla School District, and fourth through eighth grades at the Abercrombie School in North Dakota from 1969 to 1989. Along the way, she earned an MA from Northern University, and received a reading and gifted education endorsement in North Dakota, English major and bilingual in Najavo.
Ms. Donahe was a Title 1 English teacher and gifted educator of Standing Rock BIA in Fort Yates, North Dakota until 1994. Later, she became the librarian of the Aneth Community School in Utah from 1994 to 2006. She has also served as academic department head of the BIA School, affiliated with the Shiprock Agency, from 2003 to 2005.
Ms. Donahe was the recipient of a 2012 Professional of the Year honor three times, and has received an Educator Award from the Education Program of NASA every year from 1998 to 2006. She has led the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International as its president since 2008. She initiated the Tau chapter in 1986 and has been a member ever since.
Ms. Donahe has been an active member of her civic community, especially as a troop leader of the Girl Scouts of America and a Scout Master of the Boy Scouts of America. In the 1980s, she was an election reporter with ABC. She is a member of the American Association of University Women, chairman and resolution committee member of the National Defense Education Act, resolution committee member of the National Education Association, and a prolific Utah area leader of the International Reading Association. She has been a charter member of the National Museum of Women in Arts since 1986, and was the state's first vice president of Delta Kappa Gamma before becoming president.
Ms. Donahe married the late Robert Charles Donahe in 1967, with whom she had a son, Noel Charles. She enjoys painting and chalk art, and is a frequent contributor to newspapers and articles. She has appeared in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women, and Library Media Who's Who.
Ms. Donahe's hobbies include reading, knitting, water color painting, making wreaths and flower gardening.
Ms. Donahe was an educator for 44 years including assistant principal.
