An expert in the field of suicide prevention, Dr. Reidenberg is the executive director of Suicide Awareness Voice of Education (SAVE). In addition, he has conducted presentations both domestically and internationally, and he has been interviewed by such publications as The New York Times and the Washington Post. Inspired to enter the field after losing patients, friends, and family to suicide, Dr. Reidenberg felt driven to help those with mental illness in a variety of ways.
Dr. Reidenberg began his career as a student at the University of Minnesota, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a minor in child psychology in 1989. He went on to earn a Psy.D. in clinical psychology in 1994 from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. He is on the executive committee of the International Association for Suicide Prevention, is the former Chair of the American Psychotherapy Association, and serves on committees of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention. In addition, he is the managing director of the National Council for Suicide Prevention, and he sits on the steering committees of the Suicide Prevention Resource Center and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
A respected voice in suicide prevention, Dr. Reidenberg has written extensively on the topic, including the recently published article "Changing the Direction of Suicide Prevention in the United states." Dr. Reidenberg has published more than 50 other articles on mental health and suicide prevention.
Throughout his career, Dr. Reidenberg has been recognized for his contributions. He earned a Best Doctor Award each year from 2013 to 2017, and SAVE was recognized as a Best Women's, Children's, and Families' Charity in 2012, 2013, and 2016. In 2012, he received a Healthy Mind/Healthy Body Award, and the Obama Administration named him a Champion of Change in 2011. He was named Nonprofit Professional of the Year in 2010, One of Ten Outstanding Young Minnesotans in 2006, receiving the B. Warren Hart Award for Service to Humanity the same year. The American Psychotherapy Association recognized him with a Distinguished Service Award in 2002, and with an Outstanding Leadership Award in 2004. In 1997, he received the KDWB and Varity Children's Hospital Dedicated Service Award, and he received Certificates of Commendation from the Minnesota Governor in 1993 and 1995. In addition, he has been featured in the International Biography of Distinguished Leaders and in Who's Who of Prevention Leaders in Florida.
