First receiving an Associate of Arts from Jefferson State Junior College in 1977, Mr. Hampton subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Samford University in 1979. Thereafter, Mr. Hampton received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Samford University's Cumberland School of Law in 1982. He was admitted to practice law by the Alabama Bar Association in 1982, the U.S. District Court of Alabama in 1983, and the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in 1983.
Having served on the board of directors of the Lawyer Referral Service in Huntsville, AL, from 1994 to 2004, Mr. Hampton was also a court-appointed juvenile advocate of Madison County from 1991 to 1999. He is a member of the American Association of Justice, formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He served as a student material editor of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy from 1981 to 1982 while at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law.
In recognition of his professional achievements, Mr. Hampton was the recipient of the Pro Bono Award from the Lawyer Referral Service in 1990 and again in 1992. Inspired to enter the field of law by his family members who have been disabled, Mr. Hampton strives to make a difference in Alabama by advocating for disability rights.
