With more than 40 years of professional experience in aquaculture, Dr. Lee has been a professor with Kunsan National University since 1992.

With more than 40 years of professional experience in aquaculture, Dr. Lee has been a professor with Kunsan National University since 1992, having been an assistant professor since 1980. In addition to his primary roles, he served as dean of the College of Marine Science and Technology from 2012 to 2014. Prior to joining Kunsan, he was a lecturer with Jeju National University from 1977 to 1980. Earlier in his career, he was a junior guide officer with the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute from 1976 to 1977. He served as dean of the Kunsan National University, director of the Fisheries Science Institute, and chief of the Aquaculture Research Farm. He retired from Kunsan National University on February 2017 and currently working as a professor and director of the Institute of International Fisheries Science & Industry at Hanseo University.
Dr. Lee began his career as a student at Pukyong National University, obtaining a Bachelor of fisheries science in 1975, and a Master of fisheries science in 1977. He later returned to his studies with the school to earn a Doctor of fisheries science in 1986. Dr. Lee served as a consultant for the field, and published more than 180 papers and 11 books and 100 reports until his retirement.
As an expert in the industry, Dr. Lee is affiliated with a number of related organizations. He is a member of the Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, the Korean Aquaculture Society, the Korean Society of Oceanography, the Korean Society of Fish Pathology, the Ichthyology Society of Korea, the Asian Fisheries Society, and the World Aquaculture Society.
Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his contributions. He was awarded honorary decoration from the government, The Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences gave him the Won Jonghoon Academy Award and an Achievement Award, the World Aquaculture Society gave him Fellow Award, the Asian Fisheries Society gave him a Merit Award, and he received a Secretary Citation Award from the Ministry of Land & Transportation and Maritime Affairs. He has also received many awards from the industry, including the Korea Federation of Autonomous Management Fisheries, the Gunsan Fisheries Cooperative, the Carp Aquaculture Association of Korea, the Catfish Aquaculture Association of Korea, the Loach Culture Association of Korea, AquaInfo Co. Ltd. and the Jeonbuk Fisheries Industry Association. Looking toward the future, Dr. Lee intends to experience the continued success of his career.
