In 1998, Dr. Du graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China with a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. He has now come to be recognized for his expertise in signal processing, wireless communications and machine learning. In 2011, he began working as an affiliate associate professor at Concordia University, where he had served as a research scientist at the Center for Signal Processing and Communications in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2001 to 2010. Dr. Du also founded Xonlink Incorporated in Ningbo, China, in 2014. He previously served as chief scientist at Enjoyor Incorporated in Hangzhou, China, from 2011 to 2014, and as a visiting researcher in the Signal Processing and Communications Lab in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2008. He began his career as a member of the technical staff of Huawei Technology, the China Academy of Telecommunication Technology, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

His publications include "Neural Networks in a Softcomputing Framework," published by Springer in 2006, "Wireless Communication Systems," published by Cambridge University Press in 2010, "Neural Networks and Statistical Learning," published by Springer in 2014, and "Search and Optimization by Metaheuristics," published by Springer in 2016. Dr. Du has also published more than 50 papers in professional publications on topics such as signal processing, wireless communications and softcomputing, and has acted on the editorial board and as an associate editor of 10 journals, including "IET Signal Processing," "Circuits, Systems & Signal Processing," and the Chinese edition of "IEEE Spectrum." He has also acted on the program committee of more than 40 international conferences and has reviewed papers for more than 82 international journals and numerous conference proceedings. He is a technical reviewer for many research and investment funds.
Dr. Du's contributions to the field extend beyond his research publications. He has also co-supervised 11 Master of Science students in the past five years and holds four United States patents and 28 Chinese patents. Additionally, he has acted as a senior member of IEEE since 2009. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the industry, Dr. Du was honored with the Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2012, and was recognized by the Government of Zhejiang Province through the Thousand Talents Program in 2012 and by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China as a member of Technical Committee in 2011.
