For his excellence in the field, Dr. Thompson has been recognized many times, earning the Mary Rennebohm Professorship Grant, the E.A. Gaumnitz Outstanding Faculty Award, the Larson Teaching Award and the Kuechenmeister-Bascom Professorship Grant through the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
