A widely regarded telecommunications industry executive, Dr. Roberts is recognized as a pioneer in graphics and artificial intelligence. Among his greatest achievements was creating the network that evolved into the Internet and proving that his creation was commercially viable as CEO of Telenet and designing the X.25 protocol. In an effort to remain alert of recent developments in computing, networking and communication, Dr. Roberts maintains involvement with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and National Academy of Engineering, among other industry organizations. Since 2016, Dr. Roberts has served as the CEO of FSA-Technology.
In recognition of his involvement with the development of the Internet, Dr. Roberts was recently inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame by the American Federation for Information Processing in 2012. He has been recognized as a fellow with the Computer Museum since 2017. At the turn of the century, Dr. Roberts was selected to receive the Internet Award from the IEEE. He has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the West.
Early in his career, Dr. Roberts attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1959, Master of Science in electrical engineering in 1960, and Ph.D. in 1963. He went on to serve as the director of information processing with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense. For nearly a decade, Dr. Roberts was also recognized as the CEO and president of GTE Telenet Communications Corporation. He briefly served as the president of DHL International before accepting a position as the president of ATM Systems in 1993. After founding Caspian Networks in 1998, Dr. Roberts served as the company's chief technology officer for six years. Since then, he has enjoyed varied positions as the CEO of Anagran Inc. and FSA Technologies, Inc.
