Retired U.S. Army Colonel George Satterthwaite II advanced through the ranks for more than 20 years before retiring in 1987. He then began working as the chief of industrial security for the Planning Research Corporation. A few years later, he was named corporate director of security for the organization before moving into private consultant work in the mid-1990s. He also worked for Dale Photo and Imaging Company, and Radio Shack during this decade. He has been a photography and security consultant with SSI Inc. since 2000.
For the past 11 years, Satterthwaite has been a location leader for veteran's cemeteries with the Wreaths Across America program. He is proud to have obtained recognition for his father on the Wall of Honor at the United States Department of State.
Satterthwaite has served on the University of Pennsylvania's Admissions Council since 2002. He is also affiliated as a state chairman since 2010, and chapter secretary, since 2007, of the Sons of the American Revolution's ROTC Committee. Satterthwaite has served as vice president of the Piscataway Citizens Association since 2015, and as a member of its board of directors since 2010. He was a member of the Sidwell Friends Alumni Executive Board from 2010 to 2016, chairman of its Alumni Fund from 2011 to 2015, and a member of Prince George County's Board of Elections from 2003 to 2010.
Completing a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations at the University of Pennsylvania in 1957, just prior to entering the military, Satterthwaite later completed a Master of Arts in History at Johns Hopkins University in 1965. The recipient of the Patriot Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal from the Sons of the American Revolution, he has been included in many editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in Finance and Business.
Mr. Satterthwaite was born in 1935 in San Jose, Costa Rica, to Livingston Lord Satterthwaite and Adelaide (Bristol) Satterthwaite. He was married for nearly 30 years to Deanna Marie Kelliher, who passed away in 2012. He has four children: Patricia Ann, Livingston Lord, Frank Lord and Kelley Elizabeth and 10 grandchildren: Megan, Christopher, Timothy, Eric, Sean, Emma, Stephen, Katie, Alex and Julie. He attributes his success to a devotion to duty to the tasks at hand, an understanding of a good work ethic, and being fair, just and honest in his dealings with employees and management.
