Dr. Goldman has been an emeritus professor of diagnostic and interventional imaging and urology at the University of Texas Medical School since 2012. Actively involved at the university for just under 20 years, he was recruited to become the professor and chairman of diagnostic and interventional radiology, which he held from 1993 to 2000. During that time, Dr. Goldman also served as physician-in-chief at the Hermann Hospital (now Memorial Hermann Medical Center), a level three trauma center, and physician-in-chief in the department of radiology at Lyndon Baines Johnson General Hospital. He also served as a professor of urology at the university while teaching as an adjunct professor of urology and radiology at Baylor School of Medicine, becoming a professor at Baylor in 2012. He previously taught at Uniformed Services University from 1981 to 1994, as well as being a lecturer at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Johns Hopkins University in both radiology and urology from 1972 to 1993, Einstein College of Medicine from 1971 to 1972, and the U.S. Public Health Service Phoenix Indian Medical Center from 1969 to 1971 (USPHS). Furthermore, Dr. Goldman served as a clinical professor for the University of Maryland. While at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Goldman worked as a full professor and chaired the Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (previously known as Baltimore City hospitals) for more than two decades. He has been teaching at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as a professor of radiology since 2003.
Throughout his career, Dr. Goldman's research focused on uroradiology and obstetrical radiology, trauma to the urogenital system, and in the evaluation of pregnant females in both acute and non-acute traumatic situations. He has served as editor, associate editor, and consultant editor for various publications, has published more than 150 articles in peer reviewed journals and chapters to approximately 30 books, and has given countless lectures and presentations throughout his career. He was also a visiting professor at more than 60 institutions.
Completing his undergraduate work at Yeshiva University and MD at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Goldman completed his internship at the Thomas Jefferson University Medical Hospital in Philadelphia, followed by residency work in general radiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was chief resident and an assistant instructor. By 1972, he had become a radiologist and assistant director of residency training at the Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, which led to the beginning of his career in academia. He also served as a lieutenant commander in the Public Health Service while acting as chairman of the department of radiology at the USPHS Phoenix Indian Medical Center.
Serving on numerous committees throughout his career, Dr. Goldman was also active as a member of such organizations as the Association of University Radiologists, fellow of the Society of Abdominal Radiology, and an honorary member of the Royal Belgium Radiological Society. He received many awards over the years, including numerous faculty honors and a Gold Medal Award for Outstanding Service to Radiology and Radiologists in Texas by the Texas Radiological Society in 2010, a Gold Medal from the American Society of Emergency Radiology and a Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Abdominal Radiology. A radiology classroom and library were also named in his honor at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital. Married with two children, Dr. Goldman has been cited in dozens of editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
