An expert in biological research, Dr. Oh has served as a principal research scientist with the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology since 2017.

In these roles, he uses his passion for science to research and develop ocean science and technology as the need arises from government policy to keep up with developing ocean industry trends. His research focuses on the low cost-high purity mass production of functional proteins in Escherichia coli. In particular, he has made significant developments of a novel recombinant protein system and a multi-expression system in E. coli. Dr. Oh has been instrumental in translocation efficient improvements for techniques of recombinant protein to periplasmic space in E. coli.
In addition to his work in the field, Dr. Oh has also taught biological course as a professor at the Korea University of Science and Technology since 2012. In this position, he is known for his professionalism and his natural ability to relay information to his students in a way that is succinct and thought-provoking. Dr. Oh has held a Doctoral degree from Jeju National University since 2009.
In recognition of his research work, Dr. Oh has received many formal accolades within his industry. He earned a Best Paper Award from the Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute in 2011, a Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2014, and a Best Research Award from the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology in 2016. For his excellence in education, he received Best Teacher Award from the Korea University of Science and Technology in 2013.
