A widely regarded religious leader, Dr. Russell takes great satisfaction in his love for God and people. For many years, Dr. Russell has been a speaker on radio, television and cablevision. He has served on the board of two news magazines, in addition to being deeply involved with Texas Baptist Associations and the Southern Baptist Convention. In an effort to remain alert of recent developments in his areas of focus, Dr. Russell has maintained involvement with several Baptist churches, as well as the Chamber of Commerce, United Way and Rotary International. He has also assisted the Boy Scouts of America at the district, regional and national level. Although Dr. Russell never served in the military, he takes great pride in his previous involvement as a pastor of hundreds of military personnel. Since the inception of his career, he has traveled to numerous countries, where he completed local work with church crusades.
For as long as Dr. Russell can remember, he has held deep convictions for the Christian faith. He recalls accepting the calling to become a minister during his first year of college. At the time, Dr. Russell felt a deep impression from the Lord to become a preacher and pastor. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University, Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Th.D. from Luther Rice Seminary. Since completing formal education, Dr. Russell has served as pastor of several churches located throughout Texas and North Carolina. His present (and last church) as pastor is Burke Baptist Church.
