Dr. Abram has served the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Tirgu-Mures, Romania, for more than 25 years. He has acted as a professor at the school since 2006, where he is teaching hygiene, public health and health education. He teaches also at the University of Sapientia, Tirgu Mures branch and at a nurse school. He has been studying the lifestyle and the health state of the population for twenty years, putting accents on smoking, alcohol consumption and drug abuse in school children and young adults. He is a member of several professional societies and a leader in non-governmental organizations, managing scientific meetings and initiating health education activities, especially among youth. Dr. Abram has published several environmental hygiene and health education books and brochures on different health prevention topics, including smoking. Some of his research themes relate to smoking habits and health effects among youth and the lifestyle and health status of the adult population in Romania. He is the Romanian Principal Investigator of the project entitled Building Capacity for Tobacco Research in Romania (2012-2017), founded by NIH-Fogarty Foundation.
Dr. Abram received a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 1989. He also graduated with a degree in journalism from the Balint Gyorgy Journalist School in 1991. He has widespread journalist activity and he is author and coauthor of about twenty non-professional books. Dr. Abram was also civically engaged with a number of institutions, including the Hungarian Youth Association, the Hungarian Folk High School Society, and the Rhododendron Ecological Association. He also currently acts as the president of the Diakonia Christian Foundation Tirgu Mures since 2005 and as the vice president of the central Transylvania region of the Transylvanian Hungarian Cultural Association since 2008. He was an active member of the Romanian Hygiene and Public Health Society, the Transylvanian Medical Society, the New York Academy of Sciences and the Prevention Health Promotion Association. He has been honored with a number of awards and commendations for his outstanding contributions to the health care industry, including the Pro Hygiene Award by the Fodor Jozsef National Institute in 1999, Dr. Aszalos Janos Award in 2002, Genersich Award in 2017, and Ex Libris Award in 2017 for his cultural activities. In recognition of his professional excellence, he is also featured in numerous editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World. In his spare time, Dr. Abram enjoys photography and literature.
