Retired physician Dr. Richmond was in private practice in Middletown, OH, for 40 years, retiring in 2003. While maintaining her office, she was also a part-time physician at H.A. Long Clinic and the Middletown Social and Health Center for several years, attended the Physicians Institute, Summer School of Alcohol Studies at Rutgers University, and at the university student health department at The Ohio State University. She also worked for several other organizations throughout her career, beginning as a physician on duty for the American Red Cross Blood Bank in 1951, and as a physician at Planned Parenthood Federation of America from 1952 to 1956.
Dr. Richmond earned a BS in dietetics at Maryville College in 1944, completed postgraduate work at Fordham University that same year, and MD at the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel University College of Medicine) in 1948. She had a year's internship at Easton Hospital in Easton, Pennsylvania in 1948 to 1949. Her husband Jack H. Richmond graduated from Lafayette College in Easton in 1950 and later obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Richmond later earned an associate's degree in theology and an MA in theology at the Christian Life School of Theology (now Beacon Institute of Ministry). She is board certified in family medicine and has been licensed to practice in multiple states.
In 2005, Dr. Richmond was a medical missionary to Nicaragua with Caring Partners International, Inc., a Christian ministry that equips Bible-believing churches to meet the health care needs of the lost and dying around the world. A longtime member of numerous organizations, including the Christian Medical Society (now Christian Medical and Dental Association), the American Professional Practice Association, the Ohio State Medical Association, and the American Medical Association, she is also the author of the book "Dieting and Nutrition," published in 1997, and several other publications. She was a featured guest on TBN-TV's "Praise the Lord Live TV Programs" several times and on the weekly television show "An Ounce of Prevention" between 1985 and 1989. Additionally, she was an alto singer, performer and played alto recorder for "Promises" on their 1982 mission visit to northern Japan.
Named to several biographical publications for her work, Dr. Richmond also received an Outstanding Achievement Award in Amateur Photography from The International Society of Photographers in 2004. The mother of three children and grandmother of six grandchildren, she still does photography, loves to write, plays Scrabble, swims, travels, and enjoys art.
