Prior to joining the university, she briefly served as the superintendent of Buford City Schools and as the principal of Dabbs Loomis School. Since the turn of the century, Dr. Delahanty has also been recognized as an educational consultant.
Throughout the course of her career, Dr. Delahanty has been continually recognized for her accomplishments as an administrator and supervisor. Some of her most notable achievements occurred while she was serving as a superintendent and assistant to the superintendent with Buford City Schools between 1993 and 1999. During this time, Dr. Delahanty was credited with approving school improvement grants in the amount of $100,000, $83,000 and $150,000. In addition, she approved a $125,000 technology literacy funding grant in 2000.
Early in her career, Dr. Delahanty briefly served as a seventh grade teacher with St. Hedwig's School between 1962 and 1963. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from the College of St. Catherine in 1977 and Master of Arts from the College of St. Thomas in 1983. From 1977 to 1983, Dr. Delahanty also worked as a kindergarten teacher with the District 284 School in Wayzata. Since the inception of her career, she has received certifications in administration and supervision in Georgia.
Dr. Delahanty maintains involvement with numerous organizations, including Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Delta Kappa. She was most recently appointed to the Science Advisory Council with the University of Notre Dame in 2010 and Advisory Board with the College of Applied Professional Studies at the University of St. Thomas in 2001. In recognition of her contributions to education and administration, she has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World.
