With 60 years of industry experience to her credit, Ms. Sola has been a director of the Wepawaug Federal Credit Union since 2011. Prior to this, she worked as a business education teacher and a coordinator of cooperative work experience and diversified occupations for Hamden High School from 1992 to 2005, as well as recycling coordinator and Mayor's aide for the Town of Hamden, CT, from 1989 to 1992, and from 1987 to 1989, respectively. Previously, she was a management lecturer for Quinnipiac University from 1981 to 1987, lecturer for Gateway Community College in 1987, instructor for Gateway Community College in 1977, instructor for the Manpower Development and Training Act from 1970 to 1974, and the business instructor for Stone Academy in 1962. Ms. Sola began her career as a business teacher with Amity Regional High School from 1957 to 1960.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Sola pursued an education at Central Connecticut State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1957. She followed this accomplishment at Southern Connecticut State University in 1962, graduating with a Master of Science. In 1969, she concluded her studies with postgraduate coursework at the University of Connecticut. Ms. Sola has also been certified as a special education teacher and business educator for grades nine through 12.
Beyond her efforts within the field, Ms. Sola has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. A student intern advisor for Hamden Public Schools from 2000 to 2005, she has served as treasurer for Green Dragon Enterprises, Inc. from 2002 to 2005, a life credit assessor for Quinnipiac University from 1986 to 1989, a community liaison for the Carusone for Mayor Committee from 1981 to 1987, and a campaigner with the Sola for Town Clerk Committee in 1981. She has also been elected as president of the Hamden Lions Club and the 25th president of the Marian Guild for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Ms. Sola has also represented Unit 88 of the American Legion Auxiliary, holding the roles of chairman of Laurel Girls State as well as vice president from 1985 to 1995.
In addition to her primary trade, Ms. Sola remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. Serving on the board of directors for Wepawaug-Flagg Federal Credit Union since 2011, she has maintained membership with the National Business Education Association, Delta Phi Epsilon, The International Platform Association, the NOIAW, and the Hebron Sunshine Singers. Associated with the International Museum of World War II and the Miller Senior Center, she was also recognized as president of the Central Connecticut University State Alumni Association, charter member of UConn Alumni, a lifetime member of the ARTC, distinguished member of the International Society of Poets, and on the board of directors of CBEA from 2003 to 2005. Ms. Sola has also been involved with the Hamden chapter of Lions International.
Ms. Sola has found much success in her creative works as well, including with written works and poetry. She previously authored multiple works, included in "Flights of Fancy" in 1991, and "Recycled Thoughts" in 1992. Her poetry has also been published in such esteemed journals as Contemporary, The Hamden Chronicle, Treasured Poems of America, and by the National Arts Society. Ms. Sola was also the creator of "The Ballad of the Sunshine Singers" at Hebron Senior Center.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Sola has accrued several accolades and honors throughout her impressive career. In 1997, she was honored as Woman of the Year by the Ruthe Boyea Women's Center at Central Connecticut State University. From 2000 to 2001, she was recognized as Teacher of the Year by Hamden High School. She was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Service Award from the Central Connecticut University State Alumni Association in 2003. Ms. Sola has additionally been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
