With more than 40 years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. Johnson is currently retired, having most recently served as a senior judge for the Circuit Courts of Florida, covering the State of Florida, from 1992 to 2001. Prior to this appointment, he worked as a Circuit Court Judge for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida from 1971 to 1992. Previously, Mr. Johnson began his career as partner with Cone, Wagner, Nugent, Johnson, McKeown & Dell from 1958 to 1971.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Johnson pursued an education at the University of Florida, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1955. He concluded his education at the same academic institution, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1958. Following his graduation, Mr. Johnson was licensed by the Florida Bar, working on their board of governors from 1970 to 1971, the American Bar Association, and the Brevard County Bar Association, with whom he served as president from 1969 to 1970.
Beyond his efforts within the field, Mr. Johnson has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. In 1950, he enlisted with the U.S. Air Force, serving until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was recognized as the president of the Cocoa Junior Chamber of Commerce from 1963 to 1964, board chairman for the YMCA of Central Brevard from 1965 to 1966, president of the YMCA of Brevard County, Inc., from 1968 to 1971, and the president of Rotary Club of Cocoa from 1965 to 1966. He also served on the faculty for the Florida Judicial College from 1988 to 1990, a member of the Florida State-Federal Judicial Council from 1989 to 1991, the Judicial Council of Florida from 1989 to 1991, and chairman for the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges from 1990 to 1991. Furthermore, Mr. Johnson was a member of the Florida Bench/Bar Commission from 1990 to 1992, and charter president for the Vassar B. Carlton American Inn of Court from 1992 to 1993.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Johnson has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. In 1965, he received a Distinguished Service Award from the Cocoa Jaycees. He was later presented with a Judicial Achievement Award from the Florida Justice Association in 1987. Mr. Johnson was also selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World.
Inspired to pursue the field of law since the age of 13, Mr. Johnson is most proud of his affiliation with the Brevard County and Florida Bar associations as well as many organizations involved in his primary trade in the county of Brevard, FL. Furthermore, he initially became involved in law through writing over 90 letters to Florida legislators, which led to him being elected to serve in the sessions of various legislators involving lawyers on a daily basis. Looking toward the future, Mr. Johnson hopes to continue enjoying his retirement while cementing his legacy as a prominent figure in the Florida legal system.
