With 45 years of industry experience, Mr. Curran has been retired since 2003, having most recently held the position of director of computer services at the National University of Ireland, Galway, from 1978 to 2003, and serving as a senior lecturer from 1968 to 1978. Prior to obtaining these roles, he was a principal lecturer, senior lecturer, and mathematics lecturer at London Metropolitan University from 1960 to 1968. From 1958 to 1960, Mr. Curran served as an assistant lecturer at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Curran pursued an education at the National University of Ireland, Galway, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1958. He concluded his studies at the same academic institution in 1959, graduating with a Master of Science.
A respected voice in his community, Mr. Curran is affiliated with numerous organizations. Elected to the governing body of the National University of Ireland, Galway, from 1973 to 2005, he was a consultant for International Computers, Ltd., from 1960 to 1963, an external examiner for the National Council for Educational Awards from 1972 to 1987, and the chairman of the Oughterard Anglers from 1991 to 2001. The editor of "Topics in Group Theory and Computation" in 1975, Mr. Curran has been a member of the British Computer Society and the secretary for the Western Fisheries Development Society from 1992 to 2000.
Throughout his career, Mr. Curran has accrued several accolades and honors for his achievements. In 1962, he was recognized as a fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and Applications. Additionally, Mr. Curran was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
