Ms. Oritsky graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Fine Arts with a Master of Fine Arts in 1979 and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1975. She was also a student at the University of the Arts from 1968 to 1970. Ms. Oritsky is recognized in the art world for her creative works and role as an art educator. She previously served as a painting instructor at the Abington Art Center from 1989 to 2013 and as a visiting artist with the Maryland Institute College of Art from 2011 to 2014. She also served as a painting instructor at the Main Line Art Center from 1993 to 2004 and at the University of the Arts in 1984 and from 1989 to 1993. She also acted as visiting lecturer and critic at Brown University in 1988 and as an artist and supervisor of subway mural projects with the Crisis Intervention Network from 1978 to 1983. Additionally, since 2015, Ms. Oritsky has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Amos Eno Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. She is also a member of the College Art Association.
Ms. Oritsky's work has been featured at galleries across the country. Her work, "Unique to the Nature," is being displayed at Amos Eno Gallery in 2018. Previously, her work was presented at the A.I.R. Gallery, the Amos Eno Gallery, the AVE at the University of the Arts, the Fromm Gallery, the Abington Art Center, the Maria Feliz Gallery, the Kimberton Gallery, the Kauffman Gallery at the Huber Art Center at Shippensburg University, the Germantown Academy Arts Center Gallery, the Hahnemann University Gallery, the Callowhill Art Gallery, the Gross-McCleaf Gallery (1980-82) and the Fells Point Gallery. Her recent one-person exhibitions include "Floating Trails," featured at the A.I.R. Gallery in 2017, and "Inside 200," featured at the Amos Eno Gallery in 2015. Her work "Gathering Differences" and "Only Connect" has also been featured at the A.I.R. Gallery and "An Exhibition in Grayscale" was featured at the Amos Eno Gallery in 2017.
Ms. Oritsky was recognized with numerous awards and commendations for her outstanding contributions to the art world. She was honored with the residence fellowship at the Heliker-LaHotan Foundation in 2007. She was also the recipient of the Leonard B. Belber Award "Best of Show" at the Levy Gallery at Moore College in 1998, the Irma Rosenau Memorial Award in painting at the Levy Gallery at Moore College of Art and Design in 1994. She was also recognized with the Purchase Award by the Reading Public Museum with Berks Art Alliance in 1984 and the Purchase Award by PA Council on the Arts and Arcadia University in 1983. In addition, Ms. Oritsky was honored with a residence fellowship by the Millay Colony for the Arts in 1983 and by the Artists for Environment Foundation at the Delaware Water Gap National Park in 1980.
Ms. Oritsky was born in Reading, PA, to Herbert and Marcia (Sarna) Oritsky. Her mother was an illustrator for Harper's Bazaar and was an inspiration and guiding influence to Ms. Oritsky over the course of her career. A highlight of Ms. Oritsky's career was receiving the Purchase Award by the Reading Public Museum in 1984. This commendation made her mother, who was very sick at the time, very proud. In 1998, she received a write-up in The New York Times, where she was listed as an outstanding artist. That was an exciting moment for Ms. Oritsky, but also sad because her mother had just passed away. It was a very memorable and meaningful experience in Ms. Oritsky's life. In her spare time, she enjoys reading.
