JERSEY CITY, NJ, March 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Usha Govindarajulu, Ph.D., M.S., has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Govindarajulu is a biostatistician with expertise in frailty models and survival analysis. She currently serves as an assistant professor of biostatistics at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, a position she has held since 2012. She previously served as a biostatistician and instructor of medicine at Brigham & Women's Hospital at Harvard Medical School from 2007 to 2012, and as a member of the research faculty at Yale University from 2006 to 2007. Dr. Govindarajulu decided to pursue a career as a biostatistician only after receiving her undergraduate degree from Cornell University. Her statistical research interests now focus on survival analysis, frailty models, smoothing, genetic epidemiology, and non-parametrics, and her area of medical expertise is in cardiology, allergy and immunology, radiology and translational research.
One of Dr. Govindarajulu recent publications was recognized by Public Health Minute, a program run out of CUNY Lehman College; they interviewed her on her research which was broadcasted through the network. Dr. Govindarajulu currently serves as program chair-elect for the Section of Statistical Computing of the American Statistical Association. She is also an active member of the American Statistical Association, the International Biometric Society—Eastern North American Region (ENAR), Xi Sigma Pi and the Phi Delta Gamma Honor Society. She also serves as an associate editor of the journal, "Computational Statistics" and a reviewer for "Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology".
