As a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner with the Department of Family Medicine at The Guthrie Clinic, Ms. Edger focuses on continence care, foot care, ostomy care, pediatrics, preventive medicine, skin and wound care, and women's health. Prior to joining The Guthrie Clinic, she served as a nurse with the East Coast Polytechnic Institute, and as a certified wound ostomy continence nurse and wound care specialist with Bon Secours Health System.
Before pursuing a career in medicine, Ms. Edger dreamed of helping people by making a difference in their health. She was further inspired by her mother, who worked as a nurse. After receiving a full scholarship to the Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Edger received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009. She went on to complete a Master of Science in Nursing at Walden University in 2015.
As Ms. Edger moves forward with her career, she intends to return to school to earn a doctorate of nursing practice. She hopes to use this degree to pursue her dream of practicing in a wound care clinic. A respected voice in the field, Ms. Edger maintains involvement with a wide range of organizations, including the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Association, and the American Nurses Association. Throughout her career, Ms. Edger has been the recipient of multiple DAISY Team Awards in recognition of her commitment to nursing. She was recently named a 2015 Virginia Nurse of the Year in Medicine and Surgery by the March of Dimes. Outside of her involvement with The Guthrie Clinic, Ms. Edger takes great pride in volunteering with a local church in the infant care nursery. Ms. Edger attributes her success to her many wonderful preceptors, mentors, and colleagues, and she considers her work a privilege and is changed and moved by being able to provide specialized and personalized care to her patients.
