For many years, Dr. Ahn has served as a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). An expert in his field, Dr. Ahn holds a doctoral degree from Stanford University, which he earned in 1988. Over the years, he has contributed his knowledge to a plethora of articles, including "Reduction of point defects and Cu surface composition in the Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) film by Se annealing with a NaF overlayer at intermediate temperature,' "Growth of a high-quality Zn(S,O,OH) thin film via chemical bath deposition for Cd‐free Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells," and "Growth of a high-quality Zn(S,O,OH) thin film via chemical bath deposition for Cd‐free Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells." He has had his work featured in professional publications such as Nature, Current Applied Physics, Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, Energy and Environmental Sciences, Progress in Photovoltaics, Current Photovoltaic Research, and the Korean Journal of Materials Research.

His achievement of 18% cell efficiency in CIGS thin-film solar cell in 2006 led to the explosion of photovoltaic activity in Korea. He served both Korean and international photovoltaic communities with various positions. Throughout his career, he has been recognized many times for his work in the field, earning the first Global Photovoltaic Conference Award (GPVC Award) from the Korea Photovoltaic Society in 2017. In the coming years, Dr. Ahn intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
