Following his military service, he pursued an education at Pomona College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1955. He continued his studies with the Institute of Technology at Drexel University in 1959, receiving a Master of Science. Dr. Granger concluded his academic efforts at the University of Maryland, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1970.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Granger has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. A lecturer with the University of Cambridge since 2000, he has previously worked as professor emeritus at the U.S. Naval Academy in 2001, an adjunct professor for Lake Superior College in 1999, and both as a director and principal lecturer for the "Introduction to Wing Flutter Symposium" in 1991. He has also been a visiting professor at several esteemed higher education establishments, such as Yale University in 1989, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals from 1977 to 1979, and the University of Zurich in 1978. Likewise, Dr. Granger has been a consultant for Boeing and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, as well as the visiting professor and director of Vortex Dynamics at the Symposium von Karman Institute.

The scientific contributor and editor for the Daily Sun from 1988 to 1999, he was the publisher and chief executive officer of Science Archives, Inc., in 1997. Most recently, Dr. Granger has penned "Experiments in Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics" in 1994, "Life on Mars" in 1997, and "One is Infinity" in 2007.
In addition to his primary trade, Dr. Granger remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. An honorary member of the Institute of Modern Physics in Athens, Greece, he has maintained membership with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Kappa Mu Epsilon and Alpha Gamma Sigma.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Granger has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. An honorary fellow of University of Cambridge in 1991, he was previously honored as a Fellow of the Ford Foundation in 1965. He was presented with a Meritorious Civilian Award by the U.S. Navy in 1996, and the Euler Book Prize from the Mathematical Association of America in 1999.
