FLORIANOPÓLIS, BRAZIL, April 03, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Jonny Carlos da Silva, Dr. Eng, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Jonny celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Jonny Silva is a mechanical engineer who has been teaching as a professor in the mechanical engineering department at Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Florianópolis, Brazil, since 1993. During this span of time, he has also served as the coordinator of the mechanical engineering undergraduate course and UFSC director of the internship program. Currently, he is the coordinator of the mechanical engineering graduate program. He received specialization by KIC-Kyushu International Center, Japan, for a course on oil hydraulics and its application. He holds a Doctor in Engineering from UFSC. His doctorate project received the "Shaping the Future" Award by Hannover University, Germany, during EXPO 2000. A former employee in a multinational industry, he is also a former visiting scholar in the Engineering Design Center at Lancaster University, England.
As a professor, Jonny focuses a lot of his time in teaching and supporting his students to achieve awards. In fact, one of his former master students received an award due to an article they published together; another former PhD advisee won a state sponsored innovation prize. He also co-authored a book on integrated product design, has authored and co-authored more than 50 papers in conference and professional journals on Artificial Intelligence and Design, and served as an editorial board member for the International Journal of Fluid Power. He has advised more than 20 graduate projects.
A few years ago, Jonny developed a postdoctoral research project at NASA (Ames Research Center), Mountain View, California. As result of this experience in the heart of Silicon Valley and feedback from some technical talks he gave afterwards, which attracted attention from university students and other professionals, he started a career as coach and motivational speaker, presenting his journey to NASA as a case to inspire people to achieve higher goals. He was a key speaker at the Brazil Coaching Congress, a speaker of the Brazilian Coaching Institute, and a certified master coach.
In 2018, Jonny published a book, whose free English translation is "First Career Work: A Coaching Guide to Boost The Career with Your Final Coursework." The book is based on three pillars: his experience as academic advisor, training and practice as coach and survey of references. The book aims to establish a dialogue with every student to face the final coursework as an opportunity for entrepreneurship, a master project or as a "first interview business card".
Since 1985, he is a member of The Bahá'í Faith Community, which he has served at different levels. Jonny has been included in the 33rd edition of Who's Who in the World.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Jonny Carlos da Silva, Dr. Eng., has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
