A retired foundation administrator since 2010, Dr. Jamieson spent the last 13 years of his career as the president of SLO Capers in San Luis Obispo, CA. He previously served as the executive director of the Foundation Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo between 1987 and 1996, where he contributed to raising $32 million to build the center, which is located on the campus of California Polytechnic State University.
Dr. Jamieson's extensive background began in 1968 by first teaching as an associate professor of political studies at the Claremont Graduate School at Pitzer College, for seven years, then serving as a research political scientist at the University of California at Los Angeles for one year.
Returning to Pitzer College, where he would remain for another decade, he held the roles of vice president of development, vice president, professor of political studies, executive vice president and acting president. In 1975, Dr. Jamieson became a full professor in the Claremont Graduate School before ultimately serving as vice president of research at Claremont McKenna College.
During his career, Dr. Jamieson served as a residential consultant with the Centennial Celebration for California Polytechnic State University, was director of Global Village in Seattle and commissioner of the California Postsecondary Education Commission in Sacramento. Locally, he was involved as a staff member and secretary for the Central Coast Performing Arts Center Commission in San Luis Obispo.
Earning an associate degree at Citrus College, bachelor's degree at Claremont Men's College, master's degree at Claremont Graduate School and Doctor of Philosophy at Brown University between 1950 and 1966, Dr. Jamieson was a 1960 and 1963 fellow at Brown University and 1964 fellow of the Resources for the Future. From 1972 to 1973, he also received a grant from the U.S. Department of Interior. He was the recipient of a California Polytechnic University President Arts Award in 1999, and a Citrus College Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
Active as a member and former board of directors of the Santa Lucia Flyfishers, member and former board of directors of the California Council and former board of directors of the national board of the Trout Unlimited, and member of the Marine's Memorial Club, Dr. Jamieson will be celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary next year to his wife Perry McNaughton. He has two children, two grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.
