Earlier in her career, she worked as a travel consultant for Commercial National Bank from 1971 to 1976 and as District Manager for American Express Co. from 1976 to 1981 In preparation for her illustrious career, Ms. Light sought formal education, earning a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the University of Arkansas in 1958. She is certified as a financial planner.
As a respected voice in the field, Ms. Light maintains affiliation with numerous professional organizations. She served on the International Association of Financial Planners board of directors from 1992 to 1998, and president of the board of directors from 1995 to 1996, and she was on the board of directors of the University of Arkansas Alumni Association from 1974 to 1977. In addition, Ms. Light is a member of the Financial Planning Association, Morgan Stanley President's Club, Morgan Stanley Director's Club, Phi Beta Kappa, and Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Active in her community, Ms. Light is a member of the Junior League of Little Rock Sustainers, a volunteer with Happiness Singers, and she is a singer in her church choir. Attributing her success to having a good attitude and doing her best, Ms. Light has always had a passion for the financial industry and the field of banking.
