Dr. Irwin has been doing consulting work for students on dissertations and statistics for the past 11 years. Formerly spending 24 years in higher education, she was a well-known psychology professor at Glendale Community College in California between 1985 and 2007. She also served as the college's assistant department chairman for 13 of those years and as assistant chair of social sciences for two years.
First acquiring an associate's degree at San Bernardino Valley College, bachelor's degree and master's degree at California State University (CSU), and doctorate at the United States International University, Dr. Irwin lectured at CSU shortly after completing her bachelor's degree in 1974. Moving into the role of instructor, then psychometrist, she then spent another 10 years as the learning center director. She was employed at the university for a total of 11 years before accepting her first appointment at the community college.
During the course of her career, Dr. Irwin has contributed numerous works as the co-author of "Writing Tutor's Training" and as author and editor of "Writing Tutor's Training Manual." She also authored and co-authored many articles in peer-reviewed journals in her areas of expertise.
A consultant on national tests with the Hartcourt Brace Jovanovich, Inc., for a brief time in the mid-1980s, Dr. Irwin was also a member of the California Statewide Legal Compliance Committee on instructionally related material review for several years as well. Furthermore, she is a longtime member of the American Personnel and Guidance Association, the American Psychological Association, the Student Personnel Association, the Western College Reading Association and the Western Psychological Association. Included in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, Dr. Irwin is active with her local YMCA and enjoys fishing, woodworking and spending time with her dogs.
