Dr. Lee began his career as a professor with the Korea Port Training Institute from 2008 to 2014.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Lee pursued an education at Korea Maritime and Ocean University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in marine system engineering, summa cum laude, in 2002. He remained at Korea Maritime and Ocean University for his further academic efforts, receiving a Master of Science in marine system engineering in 2004. Dr. Lee concluded his studies in 2007, graduating from Korea Maritime and Ocean University with a Doctor of Philosophy in mechatronics engineering.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Lee has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. From 2007 to 2014, he held the position of part-time lecturer for Korea Maritime and Ocean University. From 2008 to 2012, Dr. Lee served as a part-time lecturer for Youngsan University.
In addition to his primary trade, Dr. Lee remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. Since 2004, he has maintained membership with the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems. During this time, he was recognized as a lifetime member of the Korean Institute of Navigation and Port Research. Likewise, Dr. Lee has been involved with the Korean Society of Marine Engineering as a lifetime member since 2003. Since 2018, he has been an editor for the Korean Society of Marine Engineering.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Lee has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. He has been presented with the President Award from Korea Maritime and Ocean University in 2002, the 16th Best Paper Award from the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies in 2006, the Best Paper Award from the Korea Institute of Military Science and Technology in 2007, and a Citation for Excellent Lecturer from Korea Maritime and Ocean University in 2008. In 2010, he received a Paper Award from the Korea Institute of Military Science and Technology, as well as a Citation from the Korea Port Training Institute. Most recently, Dr. Lee earned the Young Researcher Award from the Korean Society of Marine Engineering in 2015.
