Boasting three decades of experience, he is a well-respected engineer whose knowledge and expertise have given him a tremendous amount of credibility. Dr. Kim is also a professor of structural engineering in the School of Design and Architectural Engineering at Korea University of Technology and Education. Teaching courses to undergraduate level students, his specific area of research includes composite structure.
Attributing much of his success to his family and laboratory partners over the years, Dr. Kim has served as a visiting fellow at Manchester University in Manchester in the United Kingdom. A lifetime member and the former president of the Korean Society of Steel Construction, where he received an Achievement Award in 2013, he is also a lifetime member of the Architectural Institute of Korea (AIK). Dr. Kim later earned an Achievement Award from the Korea Infrastructure Safety Corporation and a Seismic Steel Tube Achievement Award from the Korea Iron and Steel Association in 2016, as well as several paper awards, including one from the AIK in 2002.
Dr. Kim earned a Doctor of Philosophy in engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1989, and holds a first level architectural engineer certificate. He also served as a sergeant in the Republic of Korea Army. Married to Yoo-Mi Lee with two sons, Dr. Kim enjoys playing golf in his spare time.
