In these roles, he is involved in strategic and policy projects for a wide range of information and communication technology industries, including telecommunications, media, social networks, smart devices and next generation mobile communication networks.
Dr. Shim began his career as a research fellow with the Korean Broadcasting Commission from 1991 to 1996. Following this experience, he traveled to the United Kingdom to study at the City University of London, obtaining a Master of Arts in communications policy in 1997. He continued his studies at the University of Westminster, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in communication policy in 2002 before returning to the Republic of Korea to join SK Telecom.
A respected voice in the field, Dr. Shim is affiliated with numerous professional organizations. He is a member and auditor of the Korea Media Management Association, and he has served as cooperative director of the Korean Society for Journalism and Communication Studies, the Korea Association for Broadcasting and the Korea Association for Information Society.
Dr. Shim has published many articles in SSCI journals such as Telecommunications Policy and International Journal of Mobile Communications. He has also written many books about ICT industry.
Throughout his career, Dr. Shim has received honors and awards for his achievements, including a British Chevening Scholarship. He has accepted in the 2018 Edition of Marquis Who's Who in The World.
