Mr. McClure is an aviation company executive internationally recognized for his work in the design and development scavenge oil filtration systems for helicopter engines. The oil filter systems developed were certified by the FAA for use on miscellaneous manufactured helicopters using the Alison 250 series engine. Mr. McClure is the owner and president, CEO of Ni-Cad, Inc., which was incorporated in 1970 and co-owner of SBN Aviation, a Fixed Base Operation (FBO) established in 1982 in South Bend, IN. Mr. McClure has served as a consultant to Purolator/Facet Inc. Aerospace since 1981. Mr. McClure began his career as a maintenance technician at Remmert Werner Corporation in St. Louis, MO in 1964 for Sabreliner Conversion Center, St. Louis, Lambert Field, St. Louis, MO converting North American T-39 Twin-engine jet aircraft into civilian North American Sabreliners. In 1966, Mr. McClure accepted a position in South Bend, IN maintaining a corporate jet for "The Associates" Finance Company, Inc. In 1970, Mr. McClure saw a need to have local service for nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cad) batteries in the area. In 1970, the Bell 206 Jet Ranger maintained by Mr. McClure was having mechanical problems and making metal shavings in the engine oil system. After the Alison 250 series engine was removed from the helicopter three times, repaired, and reinstalled, Mr. McClure developed an engine oil filter system for the Alison 250 series engine. The system was certified by the FAA in the years following, the engine oil filter system was certified by the FAA on various manufacturers of helicopters using the Alison 250 series engine worldwide, both civilian and military. Mr. McClure served on the board of directors for the Lawrence D. Bell Museum in Mentone, IN and was active in restoring two Bell-47 helicopters with the help of many volunteers.
Mr. McClure was born in Marion, IN on June 22, 1939 to Donald and Dorothy McClure. Graduated from Marion High School, Marion, IN in 1957. Married Jean Theiss in 1960 and has three children: Roger, Donna, and Martin. Mr. McClure enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1958, and trained as an aircraft mechanic on B-52 bombers and KC-135 tankers at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL. Mr. McClure transferred to Clinton-Sherman AFB, Foss, OK to serve as a mechanic until being discharged after completing his 4 years of USAF service.
