He was recognized as a Department vice chair at UCLA from 1992 to 1994, associate professor at UCLA from 1989 to 1994, professor at UCLA from 1994 to the present, and associate professor at the University of Cincinnati from 1984 to 1989. Dr. Que Hee began his career shortly after coming to the United States in 1978, serving as an assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati from 1978 to 1984.
Dr. Que Hee began his career at the University of Queensland, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1968. He would follow this accomplishment with a Master of Science in 1971, which he also received from The University of Queensland. In 1976, he graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Doctor of Philosophy. Soon after, Dr. Que Hee was a post-doctoral fellow at McMaster University, 1976-1978.
A respected voice in the field, Dr. Que Hee has contributed to numerous endeavors in the community. He was an Honorary Secretary for the Lesbian Gay Academic Union of Greater Cincinnati from 1978 to 1987, facilitator for Gay and Lesbian March Activists from 1987 to 1989, President of the Lesbian Gay Academic Union from 1988 to 1989, and President of the Lesbian Gay Health and Health Policy Foundation from 1994 to 2011. He has also found much success as an author, writing "The Phenoxyalkanoic Acids: Chemistry, Analysis and Environmental Pollution" in 1981, "Biological Monitoring: An Introduction" in 1993, "Hazardous Waste Analysis" in 1999, and "Biological Monitoring: A Field Manual" in 2004. In addition to his primary trade, Dr. Que Hee is affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise—industrial and environmental hygiene, the development of sampling, analytical and bioassay methods for xenobiotics, exposure and risk assessment, and the protection of personal protective equipment. A member of the National Toxicology Program Panel on Carcinogens with the National Institutes of Health since 2006, he was a member of the Biological Environmental Exposure Level Committee of the American Industrial Hygiene Association from 2007 to 2013 as well as its Biological Monitoring and Dermal Exposure Assessment Committees, the Board of Scientific Counselors at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health from 2001 to 2004, and the Hazardous Materials Data Bank of the National Library of Medicine from 1984 to 1989. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American College of Toxicology, the American Public Health Association, the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Chemical Society, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists..
Dr. Que Hee has been associated with the American Institute of Chemists,, and the American Chemical Society for whom he organized its 1st symposium on AIDS in 1988. He also held several roles in the American Industrial Hygiene Association, including as chair of its Biological Environmental Exposure Level Project Team from 2008 to 2009, its Secretary of the Biological Monitoring Committee in 2006 and 2012, its Vice chair of the Biological Monitoring Committee in 2007 and 2013, and its Chair of the Biological Monitoring Committee in 2008 and 2014. He has also been involved on the Committee on Methods for Water and Waste Water with the American Public Health and American Waterworks Associations since 1993.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Que Hee has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his career. A postdoctoral fellow of McMaster University from 1976 to 1978, he has been recognized as a fellow of the American Institute of Chemists (1986) and American Industrial Hygiene Association (1999). Additionally, Dr. Que Hee has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World.
