Prior to obtaining these positions, he was managing partner of Squire Sanders & Dempsey LLP from 2001 to 2009, chair and chief executive officer of Kaiser Group International, Inc., from 1999 to 2000, partner of Crowell & Moring from 1990 to 1998, and with Squire Sanders & Dempsey LLP from 1974 to 1990.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Maiwurm first sought formal education, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Wooster in 1971. He followed this with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Michigan in 1974. He has been admitted to practice in Ohio, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New York and Virginia, and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth and District of Columbia Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
A contributor of articles to professional journals, Mr. Maiwurm serves as a member of the board of trustees of the College of Wooster and as director of Sandy Spring Bancorp as well as other organizations. In addition, he maintains affiliation with the D.C. Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, the Maryland Bar Association, and the Virginia Bar Association.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Maiwurm has received the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings, and he was named as one of the 10 most innovative law firm managing partners by Law360 in 2012.
