Ms. Logan, the founder of Kathleen Logan's Life Skills, a private company she formed in 1997, is a well-known writer and speaker in her field. First earning a Bachelor of Arts in education, followed by a Master of Science in management and Master of Arts in marriage and family therapy, she spent the first few years of her career as an elementary school teacher before becoming an officer of the U.S. Navy in 1967. By 1981, she had begun her journey in consulting, counseling, speaking, and writing. Her 1987 article "The Emotional Cycle of Deployment" is still used throughout the military services and abroad, and she has been a consultant to military commands on the subject.
The co-author of the award-winning book "Second Blooming for Women: Growing a Life that Matters after Fifty" in 2010 with Dr. Betsy Smith, and author of the book "Women's Wisdom: Pass It On!" in 2015, Ms. Logan also regularly contributes an online column for The Transition Network, a national organization for women over 50. Notably, "Women's Wisdom," which seeks to encourage a community of women where growth and wisdom are freely shared, was a finalist for the International Book Awards and the recipient of a Bronze Award from National Mature Media Awards in 2016, and was also a finalist for the Book Excellence Awards in 2017. Ms. Logan was a keynote speaker on several occasions, including at the Power of E3 Women's Conference to Educate, Enlighten and Empower in Pensacola, FL, in 2016.
With speaking engagements across the country for various organizations, Ms. Logan has visited Morgan Stanley-Smith Barney in Atlanta, the Corpus Christi Athletic Club in Corpus Christi, TX, and the Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, among others. She has been present on local media and in various publications over the past decade. She was interviewed by local anchor Sue Straughn on WEAR ABC Channel 3 on the topic of Women's Wisdom in June 2015. She was also a featured author in Bella Magazine in the article "Gathering Courage: Women Grow Their Hearts and Minds at Angel's Garden Meetings," published that same year.
Ms. Logan has served on the board of directors of Council on Aging of Northwest Florida since 2010, currently as First Vice President; was co-chair of the Poverty Information Group 2008-2012; member of the Poverty Solutions Team of Unite Escambia 2008-2012; Chair, Resource Coordinating Committee for hurricane recovery 2004-2005; board member, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of West Florida 1998-2003; and involved in many other civic activities. She and her husband received an Outstanding Philanthropists of the Year Award in 2009 from the West Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and a Service Award which was given to them in 2007 by the United Way of Escambia County, FL, for service to the community.
Married to her husband Carl Flack Logan since 1971, they have one son, Kelly, who is now retired from the U.S. Navy, and two granddaughters.
