BUDAPEST, HUNGARY, April 17, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Csaba Szántay Jr., Ph.D., DSc, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Szántay celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Szántay is a chemist who has long been serving as the head of the spectroscopic research department at Gedeon Richter, PLC, at the company's headquarters in Budapest, Hungary, since 1994. The Hungarian multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, which is located in the central and eastern European region, is one of the largest of its kind with operations in over 40 countries. Gedeon Richter, PLC, develops, produces and sells products mostly for gynecology and the central nervous system, among other therapeutic areas.
Working alongside a dedicated team of professionals, Dr. Szántay concentrates his efforts on showing that a reasonable degree of original scientific research, which is manifested in scientific publications, can and should be done in a pharmaceutical industrial environment. He is also committed to maintaining strong ties with academia in terms of education as well as research collaborations. Following in the footsteps of his father, who was a very famous chemist, Dr. Szántay's main fields of research include the physical and mathematical theory of NMR spectroscopy and the application of high-resolution NMR in the structure determination of organic molecules.
Prior to being taken on board at Gedeon Richter, PLC, Dr. Szántay was a postdoctoral fellow and NMR spectroscopist at the University of Leeds in England for almost two years and a research assistant at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics for four years. He holds a Master of Science in chemical engineering, a Doctor of Philosophy from the Technical University of Budapest, and a Doctor of Science from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
A long-time lecturer at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Dr. Szántay has served in various capacities on campus over the years, including as a member of the habilitation and doctoral council of the faculty of chemical technology and biotechnology and as a member of the George Olah Doctoral School. He also serves as a member of the doctoral council of the faculty of natural sciences at Eötvös Lorand University.
Involved in many professional organizations, Dr. Szántay is currently vice president of the Hungarian Chemical Society, president of the NMR subdivision of the analytical division of the Hungarian Chemical Society, and president of the committee on analytical and environmental chemistry for the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, to name a few.
Contributing over 140 articles as author and co-author in various peer-reviewed journals between 1983 and 2017, Dr. Szántay is also the editor of the book "Methods for Structure Elucidation by High-Resolution NMR" in 1997, and editor as well as a major author of the book "Anthropic Awareness: The Human Aspects of Scientific Thinking in NMR Spectroscopy and Mass Spectroscopy" in 2015. "Anthropic Awareness" seeks to describe a human-centered view of the essence of scientific thinking in natural sciences, as well as in everyday life, addressing the reasons why we are prone to make errors in our conclusions and how to avoid these mistakes. Dr. Szántay has served on the editorial board for "Concepts in Magnetic Resonance" and "Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry" as well.
Dr. Szántay received a Lajos Pillich Award from Gedeon Richter, PLC, in 2017, a Miklós Preisich Award in 2011, and an Academy Award from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2005. Highlighted in two editions of Who's Who in the World for his work, he is espoused to Erika Szki, and has one daughter.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Csaba Szántay, Ph.D., DSc, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor
