An esteemed figure in his field, Mr. St. Pierre has accrued more than 45 years of service in the mortuary science industry, most recently acting as chair and assistant secretary treasurer of J.C. Wilson & Co., Inc., since 1997. Previously, he served as a member of the accreditation committee with the American Board of Funeral Service Education from 2009 to 2017, having been a member of the executive board from 2006 to 2008, and a trustee, chair, and professor with the National Foundation of Funeral Service between 1986 and 2000. Mr. St. Pierre began his career as a professor and trustee of the Indiana College of Mortuary Science from 1971 to 1973.
To prepare for his lauded career, Mr. St. Pierre first sought formal education, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in marketing management from East Tennessee State University in 1969, followed by a diploma from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1970. He subsequently completed postgraduate courses at the National Foundation of Funeral Service, as well as postgraduate courses in leadership dynamics at Indiana University. He has since earned an additional degree in economics from Northwestern University in 1989, as well as an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1994. He is a certified funeral service practitioner.
Alongside his professional endeavors, Mr. St. Pierre has served his community, including as a former board director for the Center for Life/Death Education, former council commissioner, treasurer, and board director for the Consumer Information Bureau, and member of Crossroads American Council and the Boy Scouts of America. From 2002 to 2004, he served as president of the DeMolay Foundation, as well as president of the Control Region of the BSA from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, he was an elder with the Greenwood Presbyterian Church from 1976 to 1974, and a board director and treasurer of the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation.
A respected voice in the field, Mr. St. Pierre has maintained affiliation with several industry-related organizations. He is a fellow of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association and a member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, National Funeral Directors Association, Associated Funeral Directors International, and Marion County Funeral Directors Association. Furthermore, he was a Paul Harris fellow of the Rotary, a past potentate of Shriners, commander in chief of the Scottish Rite, and former master of the Masons in 1989. Mr. St. Pierre is also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the National Eagle Scout Association, where he leads area six.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. St. Pierre has been honored with several accolades throughout his career. He was the recipient of Distinguished Services Awards from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science and the Mid-America College of Funeral Service. He is also the two-time winner of the Distinguished Services Award by the Indiana Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Mason, as well as Indiana's Highest Civilian Award by Sagamore of Wabash. Most recently, he was presented with the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award and the Silver Antelope Award.
Married to Betty Carolyn Wilhoit since 1967, Mr. St. Pierre has two children, Michelle and Paul. A family business, Michelle performs all of the cremation services within the funeral home as Paul serves as president of the company.
