Working in this capacity for the past year, she formerly served as the vice president of development for the Coachella Valley Repertory Theater and as a major gifts associate for The McCallum Theater. A business development director who has exceptional expertise in fundraising, special events, grant writing, donor development and ethics and accountability, among other talents, Ms. Spirtos was hired by Coachella Valley Repertory in Rancho Mirage in 2016, where she successfully helped raised monies they required to purchase a theater complex in Cathedral City, CA.
During 2013 and 2014, Ms. Spirtos was the CEO of Spirtos Consulting. She also recently served as the interim business development director for the American Heart Association in 2014, as a direct donor of community development for the Desert Cancer Foundation from 2013 to 2014, and as an executive director for the CVSPIN Tour de Palm Springs from 2010 to 2013.
An active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Ms. Spirtos also co-chaired the NPD during 2014 and was the organization's president in 2017. She was a longtime member of the La Quinta Chamber of Commerce, the International Platform Association and the Palm Desert Rockettes. Serving her local community for many years in various ways, Ms. Spirtos is a board member for the Oregon Coast Community College Foundation since 2017 and was a former licensed notary public who also volunteered and served as commissioner for the La Quinta Cultural Arts Commission, The La Quinta Investment Advisory Board and Community Services Commission.
Ms. Spirtos is the author of the book "Not in My Wildest Dreams," published in 1995, is the co-editor and author of "Cutting Edge Technician: The Future of the Community College" in 1993, and former columnist and editor for such publications as "Seventeen" magazine, the "Trumpeter," "Youth News" and "Random Acts."
The recipient of a Decorated Legion of Merit who was also named Woman of the Year by ABI, Ms. Spirtos received a Presidential Order of Merit and a Medallion of Recognition from the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. She has been cited in close to 30 editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. Ms. Spirtos holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and Bachelor of Arts in education, cum laude, from the University of Dubuque; Master of Arts in guidance counseling, cum laude, from the University of Iowa; Doctor of Jurisprudence from Loyola University; and Doctor of Education, abd in institutional management from Pepperdine University. In 2014, she also became a Certified Fund Raising Executive.
