Barbara Curtright Schofield Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    WASHINGTON, MO, April 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Barbara Curtright Schofield with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mrs. Schofield celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Mrs. Schofield was the mother of three daughters, who she supported in their sports and extra curricular activities; as well as being a dedicated teacher and administrator who worked tirelessly in the field of education to provide excellent education for thousands of students. Spending her earlier years as a junior and senior high school physical education teacher at several schools across Illinois, she then became Dean of Girls at Antioch High School in Illinois in 1972. Two years later, she accepted the opportunity to work at Washington High School in Missouri as Dean of Students between 1974 and 1978, only to return to teaching physical education at Clearwood Junior High School in Slidell, LA. She subsequently became the assistant principal at Boyet Junior High School also in Slidell, where Mrs. Schofield spent much of her career working closely with Dana Magee to provide an atmosphere where students came first and students functioned under the Golden rule-you treat people as you want to be treated.

After seventeen years Mrs. Schofield concluded her career as principal of Washington Middle School between 2000 and 2003, returning to her former school district. She was a supportive teacher, colleague, and mentor to many.

Participating in numerous organizations in her communities - Alpha Delta Kappa as president, Beta Sigma Phi as president, Delta Kappa Gamma, PEO, while teaching Mrs. Schofield coached a number of sports, including basketball, volleyball, track, softball, and cheerleading. She also taught junior, senior high school and 13 years of adult Sunday School along with singing in the choir, and serving on the Cemetery Board, as Clerk of Session, elder, and a variety of committees at several Presbyterian churches.

She was active in a number of relative educational groups, such as Missouri State Teacher's Association, National Association of Secondary School Principals, the St. Tammany Association of Educators where she served as president and legislative chair, the Louisiana Association of Educators as a member of the Congressional Contact team for District I, and a member and former president for the Franklin County Public School Retirees-MRTA affiliate. Furthermore Mrs. Schofield while president of the National Education Association local in Louisiana worked closely with the board of education and was able to pass a $77 million tax levy.

Academically Mrs. Schofield earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Missouri in 1964, Master of Educational Administration at the University of Missouri in St. Louis in 1978, and Specialist in educational administration at Southeast Louisiana University. Following in the footsteps of her parents, her mother taught elementary and high school for many years and her father was a superintendent of schools in various schools and served on the state board of control for athletics. Her sisters both also taught elementary and art. Retired now for 15 years Mrs. Schofield enjoys playing, teaching, and promoting the game of bridge. She has been included in over a dozen editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who of American Women.
