In addition to his primary roles, he served as a psychologist with the Colorado Department of Corrections from 1994 to 1996, with the Parkview Psychological Testing Clinic from 1987 to 1993, and with Spanish Peaks Mental Health Center from 1980 to 1985. He was co-owner of Affiliates in Counseling, Psychological Assessment & Consultant, Inc., from 1986 to 1987, and he held a private practice with Associates for Psychotherapy and Education, Inc., from 1985 to 1986. Earlier in his career, he worked with the Maytag-Emrick Clinic in 1979 and Oasis of Chandala from 1978 to 1979.
Dr. Vega began his career as a student at the University of Texas-Pan American, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1975. He then joined the University of Denver, completing a Master of Arts in 1976 and earning a Doctor of Philosophy in counseling in 1979. He is board certified in neuropsychology, and he is a licensed psychologist in the state of Colorado and as a professional counselor in the state of Texas. Dr. Vega is recognized as a diplomate of the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology. Dr. Vega currently is on the Colorado Board of Psychologist Examiners.
A respected voice in the field, Dr. Vega is affiliated with numerous professional organizations. He is a member of the American Board of Vocational Neuropsychology, the American Board of Professional Disability Consultants, the American Board of Forensic Examiners, the American Board of Psychological Specialties, and the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists. In addition, he has been active with the American Psychological Association, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, the International Neuropsychological Society, the American College of Professional Neuropsychology, the Reitan Society, the Colorado Psychological Association, and the Colorado Neuropsychological Society.
